Nicknamed the “UFO of the Balkans,” Buzludzha is one of the most striking abandoned monuments in the world. Built between 1974 and 1981, it once welcomed two million visitors before being left to decay after 1989. Today it stands as a haunting symbol of a vanished era — and the subject of an ongoing restoration effort.
